Newb Q about map updates...

Hey guys just got a TT1 XL with internal memory. So I've seen that the North American maps are more detailed than the US and Canada maps. I currently have the US and Canada v675.1409 installed. my question is are there more current versions available and if so are these free version upgrades? and if so how do i go about updating. sorry if these q's have been asked. I have read much of the forum and am still confused about some of this stuff. thanks.

Yes there are more current versions.
Im not sure if the free maps are included when you purchase a new unit by checking with the latest map function. If they were, Im not sure if they only give you the US_and_Canada map.

You can purchase the North America map with TomTom's UK site. When it ask's if you which device you are using, select the 720 for the North America map.

so you are saying that i bought this today with old maps. there are currently newer versions of the maps i already have loaded that i have to pay for? thats not really cool. its like buying a new mac with panther even though tiger is out and having to pay extra if i want tiger?!?!?!? am i understanding this correctly?

I don't have a new unit, but I believe TomTom is offering free map updates through home for new users. However if you want North America maps, you need to purchase them. The 1 XL uses US_and_Canada.

When using HOME 2, click on 'File' then 'Use latest map guarantee'
