New Version and Backup Woes

Hi All:
I am a new TT One XL owner, and had a bit of trouble when downloading and installing the new version 7.162 this AM. After downloading the update, the unit didn't get a lock on any of the satellites even after several minutes. I tried to restore back to the previous state by using the restore function, (I had made a backup the previous day) but it only took a second to restore. When I rebooted the TT, it still had the new version installed. I tried several times, with no luck.

Eventually, the unit came back, got a lock on the sats, and there were a bunch of new features as compared to my old versio (6.9 something), but just curious if there is any procedure I need to follow after I get a new version down the road? More importantly, what am I doing wrong with respect to the backup??

Backup

Keep in mind that backup backs up the data on your TT, it will have no effect on the firmware version.

OK, thanks, that makes sense. It took a long time to backup the data from the unit, so I figured it was backing up everything, but what you say makes perfect sense.

Guess no one has any thoughts on the strange behavior after the new version upload? Working fine now, so guess it's no big deal!

mine took a couple of minutes to catch a sat lock also after the new update. had to turn it off and back on again to get it too work. fine after that.

I guess it was just normal behavior then. As I said all is well now. There are some new features in this version, the "help me" tab for one.

Now if I can just get it to work with my cell phone, i would be happy. I don't know what I would use it for, but like to set it up if I could. I think I need to fiddle with the phone settings.
