I suspect the new icon is for Advanced Lane guidance and, yes, the version 7 maps are not compatible with that function. you need to wait for version 8 maps to be released for the x20 models and then purchase one.

As to the computer voice......you can try another one. Or try a pin reset and see if that helps. If it is Voice Recognition that is screwed, you can try using the Clear Flash tool here

It is the computer voice that call the street name that dont work anymore, Other voice work but no street name. I did try a pin reset and it did not do the job.
I could try reinstalling the computer voice but don?t know how to find it. Any idea.?? I know it is on my cd but how to acces it ??

Use TTHome with the unit connected. Click on Add Maps/voices. Now then, arrow right 2 screens and you'll see Computer Voices. There should be 4 available by default: 2 male & 2 female.

Also make sure that the option for reading the street names is enabled(Ticked) in the Voice preferences of the Change Preferences menu.

The problem was caused by selecting the sd card instead of totom internal memory,
Please tell me when connecting to my computer, should I click on sd card or totom internal memory?
I always click on sd card and never notice there was a difference.
Which is the best. ?
Thanks you so much for the help.

It may sound nubby but what file do i look for to know where the system is installed it seem to be split.
Give me the name of a particular file to look for, if possible.

Look at the contents of your unit using Explorer. The location of the loose files in the root of the unit is where the system files reside. In other words, if you use Explorer to look at the sd card and see nothing but folders, the o/s is NOT on the card.

You are correct in that there shouldn't be loose files in both locations, internal and sd card.

I did try to sort it up using window?s and it is not obvious to find the exploitation file in the tomtom 720.

It seems to be split 50/50.

The only think I found was in the internal there was 2 computer voice, and only 1 in the sd card.

I think that when connection the tom to the computer it is better to click on the internal memory, this is how I repair my computer voice.

But like I said it is not obvious and I?m still not sure.

One thing I know, there is a difference.

Given the lack of spare internal memory for things that really do have to reside there, I've got all of my voices (including my beloved Susan) running exclusively from the SD card. The TT720 doesn't care where the "voices" folder is located (internal or SD), and there is no need for it to be in the same chunk of memory as the OS.

Ive been away for awhile...but it appears there is an update to the firmware to take advantage of the new maps coming...is this correct (sorry for being out of touch)
