New TomTom, Go 750?

Hey there,

So I've had a Go 720 for a few years and it's served me well. Sadly now, it's gone.

So I purchased a TomTom XXL and found out today it won't fit all of the Western Europe maps on it, and worse still, I can't even pick the countries I specifically want. None of the 'Zones' really fit my needs.

So I'm looking at a Go 750. A few questions,

Looking on Amazon reviews say the device only has 2GB of internal memory, the same as the XXL. So if I get a memory card, I can load the maps on to that?

Second, I couldn't find any difference between the Go 550 and 750 other than the preinstalled maps? I already have Western Europe purchased and quite a few months left on that on my TomTom account, so is it worth going straight for the 750?

Thanks for any help guys.

You will need to get TomTom to transfer your account from the old unit to the new device if you do purchase an x50.

All the Go-x50 units do support MicroSDHC cards up to 32GB in capacity so you can pop a memory card in to one of these and with a bit of messing around install the full map to it - The easy way is the Go-950 and remove the North American map to the PC for safe storage, the device then has enough built in memory for the full Western_Europe map negating the need for the storage card or any messing around (this is how I updated my 940 Live to V850 Western Europe) - Mike

Hey, thank you.

How much messing around is required?

Will the TomTom Home software let me download the maps to the SD Card, or at all?

Do I need to download them separately and put them on it myself?

I'm asking because the 950 is quite a bit more, and unfortunately, I need it in just shy of a week and a half. This is a real pain.

Thanks for your help.
