Last year I bought a tom tom western europe map set for my tom tom 1.
The old tom tom has stopped working despite fitting new battery etc and I have bought a new tom tom one (iq ?)
Can I use my western europe sd card in the new tom tom? I've paid for the thing and only used it once.

Cheers.

IF (notice the caps?) the map purchased originally came on a sd card, then as I understand it, the map is locked to the CARD and can indeed be used in any device that has a card slot.

OTOH, if the map was obtained through Home, then the map is locked to the specific device and can't be used on another Tomtom, even one of the same model.

The map was bought on an sd card from amazon.
I'm not sure what has been written to it since by home though. We updated it on home to get speed camera information. It contains the UK maps that were on the original sd card so we have never refitted the original card.
Seems a little unfair to have to pay out again for it.
I'll be careful not to pay for a library of maps for this new one...

edit: Cheers for the information.
I guess it will either work or it wont.
I'll report back for completeness :)

Only the GO models currently use SD cards. If you buy the ONE IQroutes Europe, it'll already have the same Western Europe map preloaded, and add IQroutes which makes it a better map.
