Hi all my names Dave and I live in the South West of the Uk in a place called Plymouth. Having owned 3 Navman satnavs previously the last being the S90i decided rather than update the maps I would change to TomTom so I bought the Go950live which I have not actually had chance to try on a journey yet but have had chance to play around with it sat on my sofa and spend about 8hrs updating the maps etc ( slow net speed here ) with no problems to report :) and up to now I must say I am impressed with it although time will tell ;) . Hope to pick up a few tips and plenty of advice from here so thanks for having me ..Dave

A warm welcome to this forum. Let us know if we can help. Make sure you do a windows backup before you do anything with your unit. Have fun.

Thanks for the welcome doctormstein1 :) to be honest i heard so many problems with the 750 model ( my reason for buying the 950 ) regarding updating the maps/memory etc that at every stage i have backed it up once i have checked its working ok, so in the first day i think i must have done about 4 different backups are various stages and will continue to do so no matter what changes i make just to try and stay one step ahead of any problems. Love the site and a lot of info to be had and learnt but still finding my way around a little bit at a time haha . Thanks again :)

Don't worry, you will find your way around. Just a little added something about the backup. You can do a tomtom home backup but the windows backup is much better. Make sure you go to control panel and then to the folder option. Make sure you check to display hidden files and folders before you do a copy paste.

Hi Dave.....welcome to the forum. I visited Plymouth several years ago.

Thanks doctormstein1 for the advice about the backup and now all done :) and drledger thanks for the welcome and Plymouth has changed a lot over the last few years and not all for the good but its still not a bad place to live compared to a few places in the UK which i wont mention as i dont wish to offend anyone ;) Be interestring to hear your views on the place as a visitor as ive lived here all my life and thats over 50years now but people seem to have mixed views of the place .. Dave :)
