TomTom Model(s)
930t
Just upgraded to Tom Tom truck via sd card in my 930t, can anyone tell me where my favorites are stored in the original 930t western europe maps so I can transfer them from the back up to the Truck maps

Look in the mapsettings.cfg file in the backed up Western_Europe (or whatever one you have) map folder and copy it to the new map using Explorer.

Then connect to Home and use the emulator to Manage my Favourites. Make a change to one of them by adding one, deleting one or editing one. Disconnect the unit properly from Home using the Device Disconnect icon.

You should have your favourites back.

I don't understand why new map uploads always have to wipe out mapsettings.cfg as they do. However, even TomTom finally acknowledged the need to have a copy handy before upgrading a map - so that you'd have it to copy back when the map upgrade was complete.

Most of us will make full PC copies of the TomTom since we don't trust the TomTom Home backup system to catch everything. I'd recommend doing that BEFORE you update a map. You'll have the mapsettings.cfg file from your map folder ready to copy back to your TomTom that way.

I tried that and unit refuses to boot up just cycles, ended up manually putting everthing back on.

Now having got everthing back as I like it connected to home and it says there is an application update so I install, everything seems fine until I turn the unit off overnight, try to turn on next morning and it just cycles through the reset screen.

Follow these steps to fix the cycling through the reset screen.

The frequent cycle/resets bug was fixed in app 9.022. That's why HOME only auto-preserves favorites (eg doesn't erase mapsettings.cfg) on that app version or higher.
