New owner, one issue so far

After two tries with the new HP 310 Travel Companion, I gave up on it and bought a 720 this week. So far I've updated everything that applies to my device with no problems. This thing runs circles around the HPs that I returned. I even got the voice response to work by adding the support_asr.dat as described in another post. The only thing lacking out of the box are POIs but I guess I'll fix that as I go on with it.

The only issue I have so far is with changing the car symbol. I created my own and added it to the device with no problem. I can't seem to get the symbol to change from the default no matter what I do. I tried the one I created and most all of the the ones that came with the unit. I reset the device and that didn't help. I don't plan on resetting back to factory settings just because of the car symbol...I'll live with it first. I did a search before posting but didn't see any answers. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry to hear you're having a problem.

I changed mine to the green Mini-esque car w/o a problem.

You have the latest OS and map version?

Yes, i believe so. OS is 7.221 and NA Map 7.10. When I try it I get in the upper right corner of the screen a black box that says car symbol and has a flashing blue triangle with an i in the center.

Unable to store settings: File access error

I just upgraded my TomTom ONE and now when I try to change a setting on it, I get the error:

Unable to store settings:
file access error

I checked the space on the 1GB SD card and there is 29.5MB free.

I tried the backup/restore but didn't help.

Any ideas?

Im not sure which view mode you have your tomtom but the icon change will only work on the 3D view mode. If you have it on 2D view mode, it will only stay as a blue arrow.

Thanks Pedro2NR....that may be the problem. I'll check when I get home from work this afternoon and see if that is it.

Pedro2NR...yep...that was the problem...switched to 3D mode and was able to change it. I thought I had tried that but obviously not. I was able to use my custom Jeep icon. Thanks for the help!
