Hi all,
I am a new Go 720 owner.
And while I generally love the unit there are a numer of problems I am having.
1. Battery Life
I bought this so I could use it in my RV and on my Motorcycle. I was hoping to not have to add a power hookup to the cycle. I works great on the cycle and the voice and music feed through my JMCB into my helmet. However I am lucky to get 2 hours of use before it shut down with low battery. I bought a recon unit so I am wondering if this is normal or I have a bad battery.
On the possibility that I do have to add a power hookup, what is the best way? I see that they make a lighter charger that reduces the voltage to 5v (same as a USB jack), but I would rather hard wire rather than have a cigarette jack on my bike. Do they make the voltage reducer without the cigarette plug?
2. Map Share
I downloaded TomTom Home 2 and It downloaded map update 7.15 and installed it. However the program says my map is 30 weeks out of date and there are 19,176 free map share map corrections waiting to install. But I can't get it to do it.
3. Phone connect and plus services.
I have Sprint services (US) and a Palm Treo 700p. It is not on the list. Sprint is not on the list. After much forum searching I got the phone to bluetooth connect but the contact list will not upload. The second part of this problem is that I am unable to get the DUN to work through Sprint PCS Vision. I was at one time using this phone tethered to my laptop this way when I traveled. How am I suppose to use Buddies, Traffic, Weather, etc if it won't connect?
I live about 5 miles from Garmin in Olathe, KS. I chose the TomTom over the Garmin because of some of the advanced features. Now I am finding out that they are mostly smoke and mirrors. They aren't owned by Microsoft are they? Kinda feels like I bought an early version of VISTA.
If I can get passed these issues I will be a HappyHappy TomTom OwnerOwner.
