Hi folks
Just got my black friday tomtom and things seemed to be ok when I tried to update my maps, it downloaded it and then said there wasnt enough room on my tomtom to put the new map on it.

I lost the maps that I downloaded and now its gonna cost me 50 bucks for new ones?

Help!!!!

Welcome to TTF.

Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents.

Your downloaded map should be found here:
c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\Maps\

You can try to install without using Home. here's how:

I think I got rid of those maps, cause I thought I could just reload them etc.

Should I just go ahead and get a new unit from Target. I just got it last Friday

If the downloaded file is NOT in the location I provided (did you look for sure?) then try the LMG one more time. See if it downloads the map again.

If it doesn't work, then yeah, return the unit.

its not in the location and it wont let me download it again.

I have all the information, do you think Target will let me return it ?

I am heading to target and hopefully will get an exchange. I havent heard back from tomtom customer support.

I am pretty frustrated, but will deal with it.

Their software on my laptop doesnt seem that useful.

Is it a common problem to upgrade a map and then not have enough space on the tomtom to actually replace it.

I saw what you said about using explorer, just trying to figure that out, but cant do it right now, i am at work...on lunch break.

If you're used the LMG, you should be able to log into your account on the Tomtom HOME software, choose "update my XL" and it should offer a re-download of the map.
