New maps on GO 510?

I bought my device in France and am now about to download new maps for the States - I had to upgrade the SD card of course which went fine.

I noticed on TomTom Home 2 that there is a need for an activation code and I was wondering if the original card one is needed to activate new maps or if I am getting a new one each time I have a map - the reason being that I cannot locate that original activation code.

My understanding is that maps purchased through Home no longer require an Activation Code when they're installed on the card.
