I bought a 910 on ebay and it has map version 650 is it worth the money for the new usa maps version 7.20 is there much change?
Thanks!

I would second that suggestion.

I have a 910, and not only are there major map updates from the 6.50 map, but it also cleared up most of the premature "you have arrived" instances that were the rule on the 910 with the 6.50 original map.

You will probably be updating the device apps also - mine works OK with 7.163. Make sure you do a complete backup of everything before you download any new maps or update the device.

Good luck with your device.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still trying to decide what to do? Will the new 810 maps be availabe for the older 910? Any ideas or should I just bite the bullet and get the new maps?
Thanks in advance

Until you update your firmware to 8.010, you won't be offered v8 maps to purchase.

If, in fact, you are not offered a firmware upgrade to 8.010, then that says to me that v8 maps are not available for that model.

Firmware updates are sequential in nature when offered. By that, I mean that for my 720, I first had to upgrade my firmware from 7.221 to 7.481 before clicking on Update in Home and then being offered 8.010 firmware.

I do not believe you will be seeing any new application updates for the 910's. Like all the older units, TomTom wants to have users migrate to newer ones.

I did, and sold my 910 on eBay. It was a frustrating experience, as mine had 710 NA and European maps on it, and clueless buyers were paying more for 910's with 6xx series maps even though I pointed out the difference.

To bad you got yours a while back - if you had by chance waited and done your homework - you could have gotten one with relatively new maps (note - 925 maps are the latest for older units now).

You might want to wait for a TomTom map sale - they happen ever now and then. Do NOT try to buy a map on eBay or anywhere else that claims to have them - they will not work.

Thanks for the advice, I am thinking of getting a one xls and then selling my 910.
I am going a trip this coming weekend, so I am not sure what to do. From what I have seen the one xls does most of the 910 that I use. What is your thoughts.
Thanks

I have not worked with the one xls. I would review the features in detail on the TomTom website and make sure it covers everything you need. And of course, if you buy from a legitimate site - you will gt the latest map with the Map guarantee.

If your 910 had more recent 7xx series maps, I would stay with it - unless you really want some of the new TomTom features - like Voice activation (marginal), lane guidance (ditto), and IQ routing (a good improvement, but the overall functionality of the 910 otherwise, and its much better battery and construction in general, is making me miss mine).

Two other thoughts - the 910 may be 2 years old already. The other is, it has a European Map (old - but I found it very useful over there), but if you are unlikely to need it...

Thanks for all the help after all the different choices updating the map was the best way to. So I got map version 7.25 I guess I'm good to go at least a year, maybe 2
Thanks for all the help!
