New Map subscription update....how?

The last time I updated maps, I simultaneously moved the NA map to an SD card.

I now have the system on internal, and NA on SD card. What process do I use to update the map so it lands on the SD card when I connect.

Naturally, an explorer back-up is understood b4 I do anything (of both the internal and SD card memories)... but I am always paranoid that I will fork it up.

Simply select external (not internal) when first connecting to Home. Then Home should update the map on the card.

That said, I used italics because some report with the latest Home application that it disregards the user's selection and puts a download on internal instead of external or it tries to install in both places.

So, after the update, use Explorer to ensure it went where it was supposed to have gone.

There was one little (briefly forgotten) caveat.

Favorites disappeared (again).

Copied mapsettings.cfg from last backup and overwrote it on the device.

Device wouldn't boot off the cradle.

Reconnected, --> Operate My GO --> deleted one favorite at random, and

back in business.

For whatever reason, took forever to find the satellites the first time up after the favorites fix...(???)

Not sure if that was coincidence, or what..... hope this helps others.
