Hi I have a 920T with 8.35 application, 8.3 maps and 2.6.3.1309. Computer is using Vista Ultimate.

If I run Home I get a:

TomTom Homeruntime failed with error The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

This is nothing new (TT have been promising to fix this for over a year), support gave me a work around involving a script that ran XULRUNNER, however in the latest and greatest HOME XULRUNNER seems to have disappeared!

I tried running HOME with XP compatibility enabled, lo and behold it worked (it didn't use to); however it will not recognise the SD card and "Change Devices" is greyed out. This is a pain as my maps are stored on the SD card.

Any one else suffering from this, or have any solutions. I REALLY don't want to go the support route.

Try a pin reset on your unit. Reconnect and see if Home recognized there is a sd card now.

By default, Home puts downloads in the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Vista adds an additional folder in the path that screws up functionality at times.

Check in Home in the Folder Preferences to see if you have a path not matching where files are actually kept on your computer.

Thanks for the info. The only directory that was not there was the backup, which is possibly because I don't use home for the backup.

I added the directory, but still no joy

I don't think it's a Home software or Vista issue since I and many others are using Vista 32 and 64 with no issues. It's most likely a system software configuration/DLL problem.

Well I have tried loading Home as the first application after installing Vista with the same result. So unlikely a s/w issue. Maybe HOME is allergic to my h/w.

PS TT help staff are providing there usual low level of service telling my to do things I had already tried AND explained that to them in my e-mail.
