Hi:
Just got a XL540.S from my boss, guess he is tired of me getting lost, or wishes I'd stay that way.
Got a question on a RDS-TMC, appears to be compatible with the 540, how do work as far as
reliability,and are they just plug and play, I see a varied price range too.

Welcome to TTF.

Yes the RDS-TMC antenna (newest model for North America is usb connectivety) is essentially plug-and-play.

Connect it to usb port (and car charger plugs into antenna) and the unit should recognize its existence and show a grey vertical bar with a little car icon at the top hunting for traffic. As soon as it picks up a signal, the symbol turns to a full green dot and then it should pick up traffic info as it is received from the sending source.
