Does anyone know or tried if this firmware allows phone calls to be heard through the car's speaker whether through the FM transmitter or using the 1/8 connection?

correct me if I'm wrong...

But the 720 already does that, at least mine does. If it's paired to a phone via bluetooth, it will act as a hands-free device if calls come in. The 720's mic picks up your voice and the caller's voice is played through the radio if that's how you have it set up. It also auto-answers if you set it up to do that in the phone settings menu.

Really??? When I get a phone call through the 720, if my setting are set to either FM trans/audio out cable, a phone call will NOT use the car speakers. The phone call will switch to using the internal speaker. Do you have the US version or some type of hack (ie...voice recognition)? If so, how did it work for you? Thanks Brian.

I've also never heard of the handsfree using anything else but the internal speaker, which for me is sometimes too quite. I always asumed the reason they did not send the sound out the FM or line-out is to avoid feedback.

handsfree

There was a thread explaining to add "enable_line_out" I believe it was with V6, I used it and it worked great. I read that this interferes with V7. There was mention of this option being available in V7 but that was with the 920 not the 910.

Have just upgraded to V7 for my 910 since I understand the phone quality issue has been resolved. While check it out and see if I can get it over my speakers. That is the biggest thing for me, internal speaker is too quiet. I will swicth back to V6 if I cannot get this to work. The other feature that is nice for V7 is the auto shut-off, but there is a hack for V6 for that too.

Phone to Audio out.

I have the 720. It use to play the phone conversations out to the FM transmitter and the/or the Audio out out jack. That stopped a few weeks ago after a upgrade. I contacted TomTom support.

The first lady that I talked to was no more effective than a voice robot, merrily typing away in the background, telling me to reload, reboot, and reset to factory defaults, and if that didn't work, call back and they would instruct me on how to format the unit.

Obviously she was working off the same idiot card that is used by some overseas tech support groups. :)

I hung up, had a cup of tea, and called back. The tech I got this time was a much brighter light bulb. He advised me that there was a trouble with an application and that TomTom was aware of the problem. He told me that there will be a patch issued on 3April08 to correct this problem. He also mentioned to actually check for the patch on 5April08, since his experience was that sometimes promise dates don't always match up to release dates. Wow, a tech that tells the truth! I'll respect a company that tells the truth any day.

As a CYOA, you may wish to back up your Voice Recognition files before applying the patch, just in case.......

Cheers,

Eric
