New 140S Frustration

I picked up a new 140S last night, my wife has pretty much taken over our other TT fulltime. I learned from last time to back it up before trying to download the newest map. My first try to update aborted saying I needed 32MB more space, so off I go deleting the computer voices of languages I don't need, freeing up over 100MBs. The 2nd try was still going when I went to bed. I got up a while later to check on it to see that there was a file error on a ".dat" file, again aborting the map update. After this failed attempt I got the dreaded "map npt found" error so I just did a restore. Things are working fine now, but I still don't have the newest map. How do I tell what version my map is and the version of the newest one, andif it is really worth the trouble? I know the map doesn't show the shopping center and all the new lanes that were put in across the street from my work about two years ago.

Would the new application update itself through Home, or do I need to do something manually? What version of the application should I have?

OK, I just checked my TT, my app is at ver. 8.41, and my map is at 825.2197. Is the app. current? I know there is a newer map.

Well, after about 6 hours, I got the new map on. I removed all foreign voices and the existing map through Home, after doing a back-up of course, then let it run the latest map update. It took about 4 hours for it to download and install, boy does it take a long time!
