TomTom Model(s)
Professional 520
Hi I've got a tomtom professional 520 and I'm trying to download the mydrive app but on the Google play app it say its not compatible for my Samsung s22 my tomtom works apart from that but it would be brilliant if I could get live traffic updates any ideas would be much appreciated

Hi

You don't need Mydrive to receive traffic and speed camera alerts.

To receive traffic and speed camera alerts on your GPS, you must connect your phone to your GPS via Bluetooth.

OK thank you its connected via Bluetooth so is that basically it let it do its thing.

My truck 520 needs to be connected via WiFi tethering in order to get live traffic. Just having it connected Bluetooth I don’t think gives you the traffic and cameras etc.

While I much prefer the WiFi option...
Yes, you CAN use Bluetooth in two different ways to provide traffic data & etc to a 520.

You can set up most phones for Bluetooth 'tethering' (name depends upon phone model) just as you can set it up for WiFi.

You can also use the MyDrive phone app and a Bluetooth connection between that and your 520 (I do not prefer this method due to battery and data usage issues that sometimes occur) which can get around cellular carriers who don't provide tethering, or do so at an extra cost.

Fair enough. I did have the Mydrive app and it would never connect to traffic hence I use the WiFi option on my iPhone 12. So we know if the problems people were having with traffic and app have been sorted?

Hi there @glennJ -

Since Apple introduced iOS 13 onwards, the MyDrive app has failed to link messaging/phone call id/traffic data effectively to the navigation unit and is unlikely to be corrected as TomTom had tried to modify the app a couple of times to no avail.
For 3 and a half years, I have only used the “Bluetooth and USB only” connection on my iPhone 12 Pro Max (previous to that, an iPhone 7 Plus) directly to the navigation unit (not linking it by the MyDrive app). Traffic data, my Sena 5s headset communication system, 1 Tile Pro tracker and 1 Apple AirTag all combined whilst riding/driving has not experienced any issues.
