My tomtom One is OK but...

Those buts always get ya in the end but anyway a few observations/comments/rants:

1) That $#%%@ window mount won't stay up at times in my Honda CRV and it seems to get worse as the weather gets colder here in Brooklyn, NY.

2) Does anyone else think that the prices for most add-ons & accessories from tomtom are very overpriced? Is this a EUR vs American $ thing?

3) Does anyone have any experience with the real time traffic option. I tried to get my tomtom to talk to my Verizon cell phone when I first got the unit but I couldn't seem to get it to make the bluetooth connection very easily. I believe this is required for the traffic option to work.

4) I downloaded some free Irish voices from the tomtom website but I can't tell the difference between them and the included British voices.

The newer mounts are notorious for that. make sure both your windshield and suction cup are super clean.

No - just a TomTom and most other OEM thing. Shop the third party sites. Got a very usable mount for under $10.

Read the posts on this carefully to find the settings for you unit. Also, check the posts to see if you have the right data plan with them. Note that Verizon is very difficult.

When you go to voice preferences/change voices - do they show up on the list? if they do, do they really sound the same? If so - turn TomTom into the IRA - Irishmen speaking like Brits indeed !!!!

Well the only comment I can make is that here in Calif. we are not allowed to use the window mounts, I use a vent mount and although not perfect it does work quite well for me and at least it is close at hand to make changes as needed.

Your law has changed and you can use a window mount not in the line of sight of the driver.

As of today I haven't seen or heard anything about that, but thanks for the info, I'll have to do some research, although I don't really like the window mount as I would have to stretch to reach the darn thing.......
