Welcome to TTF.....

I would uninstall MyTomTom. Then, get a fresh copy at tomtom.com/getstarted

See if things are better.

Ugh. Can't find something it wants in KERNEL32?

To the OP - please advise what operating system you are running. We need somewhere to start. KERNEL32 messages could come from several different versions.

FWIW, DecodePointer is a function which is predefined beginning with the Windows XP service pack 2. It's not supported by an older OS like Win2K. So here's hoping that's not the case.

If you are on Vista, there's something broken that would require a Vista repair/reinstall. It happens there from time to time.

OP said he's on XP.
Good point. Missed that. Now, WHAT XP? He needs to be on at least SP2 for MyTomTom's call to the Kernel to produce a result for that function. If he hasn't yet gone as far as SP2, he's going to need to do it now.

Let's see if he checks back. It's pretty late over there right now and only Andy_P never sleeps in the UK! :D

hi..i think its running service pack3...a little while back i downloaded all available updates from microsoft.

ok will do..

just checked operating system ..

actually am on sp1!

so currently downloading sp2 and sp3.

once installed will also download uninstaller as suggested..

however, large bottle of beer cooling in fridge,so may not get to reply here till the morning..ahh it is the morning...well once i wake up!

thanksfor help so far guys!

Zen, get to SP3 and then try MyTomTom without installing first.

Have a good night (what's left of it for you, mate).

yippee....

6am got it going!

loaded sp2,almost worked, warnings dissappeared but still no go..

sp3 installed, almost almost worked, but no drivers..allowed windows to search for them,it found them!

all working now..good uninstall programme too!

thanks chaps!

Good to hear. We used to have similar issues with users that ran TomTomHome in that it required Microsoft's .net Framework since the application was trying to make calls to that as well. No .net, no operation. Those in the code writing business sometimes make assumptions about minimum OS levels and write their code directed at resources that are newer than those some users have on their equipment. It takes someone who understands what the missing resource is and where it can be found to sort these things out. Would be nice if the errors were clearer for .net, but at least for the kind you had, it was very explicit.

I did a little searching this morning on the Microsoft site, and was surprised that I was unable to find your error listed there. Did a bit more poking around and found that MyTomTom isn't the only application that gets bit by this particular call, but it's not all that common, either.
