My New Map

I found out the other day that I could get a free upgrade for my new TomTom.So I needed to send them the receipt and got it downloaded to my TomTom Home.It wouldn't work so the lady told me to delete the US maps in my GPS and then the new map still wouldn't load, hmmm.Wrong one was downloaded but they got it right the second time.I didn't have enough time yesterday to load it but I did this morning and all is well,I think.

I told them about how my house is 4 houses off and my work and all the businesses in the park are off and they said the new one should fix it,NOT,atleast not my home,it's in the same spot. But the newly added exit ramp is on the new map that was not on the older one.
But it still says to get off exit 16 when you actually get off at the new exit 17 which takes you to 16 but there isn't a sign for 16.
And also where you use to could turn left at a light, you can't any more but the GPS still says you can.

Also,is this the correct place I need to ask questions about 325 XL or in the 300/510/... one, where I first started posting?

Thanks,

This is the right place for XL questions.

You can use mapshare to block a left hand turn where it is now forbidden.

Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents now that you have a new map installed.

I blocked the left turn on the older map,but it would still say "turn at the second left" even after it was blocked.

On the Explorer Backup,I did not see "New Folder in the file options,so I just copied and pasted it to a folder on my desktop.I guess that is the same thing,Ain't it?

You give the folder any name you want. Many use a meaningful name like TT_Backup_after_840_Update and then copy all the contents (retaining folder and file structure) of the unit into the folder using Explorer.

I blocked the left turn on the older map,but it would still say "turn at the second left" even after it was blocked.

Did you replan the route after blocking a turn? Mapshare only changes future routes, the Tomtom won't recalc the current route when you change something in the route's path.
