I got my TT720 yesterday. My first experience with it was pretty good. I spent the day charging it, reading the manual, and updating as much as I could. I then used it to get me to a friends house and back. It did very well. There were a couple of issues that someone here may know about and tell me what I did wrong.

updating:
How can i verify that I have the latest map installed on my TT? When I loaded Home into my PC, I was not sure if I needed to load maps into my TT or if they were already there.

Backups:
I backed up my TT first thing. Then, when I updated the software and the maps and tried to backup again, I got an error message that one file could not be found, it ended in .dat

routing:
can I save a route?

Space:
I had to delete files to make room for the map update. Is there some place I should have saved the initial map too?

Shortcuts:
What are suggestions for shortcuts, so far, I have the sound and the map as a shortcut. It seems there should be a quick way to leave the trip window and get to the map. Am I missing something? Is there an easy way to change views?

Quick Release:
Is there a quick release method from the window holder? I found it cumbersome to remove from the mount.

Directions:
There was one error, the TT told me to exit on a street exit that does not exist. It recovered very quickly when I exited where I knew was correct, then, it knew the rest of the route home.

Bluetooth:
As I feared, it would not connect with my Motorola Q. I have read that some people have success with that and I will keep looking for possible work arounds.

Contacts:
If the TT will not pair with my phone, where do I put contacts? Are the saved as favorites?

I am rather compulsive about these things, so I know I will work with the TT more today.

Thanks
Joey

If you are using the latest version of HOME, goto File | Use Latest Map Guarantee

The backup thing I'm not sure.
You cannot save a route afaik.

The best thing to do would be to pick up a SD Memory Card with 2 or 4 GB on it.

I have Jukebox, FM Transmitter, Map Correction, an Suggest Drive Break

Quick Release:

I just pull it off and it comes off, I grip the top of the TomTom with my hand pull up while pushing down on the back of the window holder at the same time.

Use the map correction link to correct the map for yourself, if you have MapShare enabled then it will also go out to the TomTom community so other maps can be updated as well.

Bluetooth:
As I feared, it would not connect with my Motorola Q. I have read that some people have success with that and I will keep looking for possible work arounds.
The Motorola Q is not a supported phone but I have noticed that people have been getting them to work. You may end up however with only Handsfree and not data services.

Contacts:

Make your Motorola Q is in pairing mode and is discoverable. I am not sure where the contacts are. Sorry.

I am rather compulsive about these things, so I know I will work with the TT more today.

Thanks
Joey
Good luck with the TomTom.

I think Phil covered most of it! :) I'm glad to see your enjoying your GO 720 Joey. I got to borrow one from a buddy at work. It worked great and I loved it! He had a bunch of MP3s on it to so playing with the FM transmitter was fun too.

I have the Moto Q 9m and it was no problem getting the hands free to pair up and import the contacts from the phone. The data connect part is another story. That depends on your phone service vendor. There are a coupel good threads hear with the steps for setting it up. For me I had to add the $15 DUN sevice from Verizon in addition to the normal data plan.
