Mount Recommendation?

I just bought my first GPS unit (GO 630). I was wondering how well the suction mount for the windshield works. I've never had much luck with suction devices, and I'm wondering if they can (do) fall off.

If the suction works, that's fine-----I'll go with it. Otherwise, what is a good alternative? I was thinking that a clip mount for a vent might be good.

Any comments?

I've found the window mount to be the best option (for me) but I do have some issues once in a while. For instance, right now I cannot get the suction cup (One LE) to stick to my window, but I can see the rings from past attempts.

Keeping the window clean is key...I normally leave some alcohol pads in the car to clean both surfaces before mating them. That usually does the trick!!!

Thanks for the tip Thom! So, once the GPS is suctioned on the windshield, does it stay attached? Say, for a 14 hour trip? Or do you recommend taking it off and reapplying the unit to the windshield every few hours?

The suction cup leaves marks on the windshield?

I just saw the bean bag for the dash board -------What's your take on that?

I have the GO 720 mount which I believe is the same as the 630 mount.

In my car it sticks on most of the time. Unless I'm in a high-theft neighborhood (which is maybe twice per month) I leave the mount on my windshield all the time. It rarely falls off. I have about 4-5 drops of the mount in over a year of daily use.

I find the highest chance of falling is when the car rapidly cools down. For example if it is very hot/humid out and the AC quickly cools the car when you get in..
