Memory issues

Hey all. I'm a newbie, so please forgive me if I am answering questions answered elsewhere (I did search pefore posting ).

We have a 3rd TT1, and we're having trouble with its memory space.

We purchased it in Canada, loaded with US & Canada maps (912MB), and have since purchased W Europe (930MB). We usually switch between the two by swapping them onto and off the device with no trouble.

However, all of a sudden after removing our US maps, we cannot load Europe due to a lack of space.

Show contents of my device shows we have capicity of 979.7MB, with 883.8 free = ie 95.9 in use. However, the contents shown (voices, apps, etc) only total 22.4. When we try to load either map, it says we need to free up about 45MB.

We're totally flumoxed by this.

Can anyone explain why we have this difference, and how it can be fixed?

This happened to me once...my tomtom was showing the incorrect amount of space usage. What you could do is just copy all of your files to your computer and then format the tomtom drive using either the formats FAT32 or FAT. Then copy those files back onto your tomtom again after the formatting is complete.

Excuse my ignorance, but I wouldn't have a clue how to format the TomTom.

How would we do that?
