Having retuned from a weekend of riding, I removed my Rider 2nd Edition from it's dock and to my suprise, two small parts dropped out from under the unit. Upon closer inspection, I found the memory card compartment door locking slide and a small metal plate with the rubber seal for the door attached, had come apart and dropped out.
I examined the seal plate and found the silver coloured paint had come off both ends of the plate and was attached to the compartment door. The door appeared to have a sticky tape type adhesive on it and the paint was firmly attached to the adhesive. The rubber seal metal backing plate was VERY shiny and I suspect that the paint wasn't attached to the plate a well as the adhesive was to the door.
I purchased my Rider 2nd Edition in Australia as they are not available in New Zealand, so returning to the supplier for repairs would be very time consuming and if the replacement door was made the same as the original, I doubt that it would last any longer than the one I have has, so I have roughened the seal plate somewhat, removed the adhesive and paint from the compartment door and applied a small amount of an epoxy adhesive to the mating parts and have left them to cure.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I see someone's Rider had filled with water and wonder if this is a result of the seal plate coming off?
