Hi,

I currently have the UK and Ireland Map on my Tomtom, I'm planning to buy the France Map as we are planning a trip there soon. Does anyone know how to install the new map on my tomtom, is it simple to do?

You can copy the existing map folder to your computer, buy the new map and install on the device (after copying and removing the existing map).

When you return from France, reverse the process.

(I'm assuming there would be a space issue having both map folders on the unit at the same time. If there is NO space problem and France can be installed along with the existing map being there, then there is no problem there, either. Just Manage Maps-->Switch maps.)

But make SURE you back up your unit's contents using Explorer, not Home, prior to doing either option.

I decided to buy the Southern Europe v8.30 Map, I backed up and deleted my UK map using explorer. I now have 400MB free space on my device. The new map is 661MB, I don't have enough space! what shall I do?

You must only have 500 mb of internal memory in total. Did you buy the 'regional' model? If so, you will only be able to put individual country maps on the unit.

This means that there is no way to install the the Western Europe map. It would require 1 gb of internal memory. (I am assuming your unit has no SD card slot.)

Hi,

Yes my unit does have a sd slot, I do have a 2GB SanDisk card. I just read on another thread that all the internal data on the unit must be on the SD card so i'm going to do this now. I'm going to download the Western Europe map using tomtom home.
