I am starting to running out of space on the internal memory. I have the @GB SanDisc memory card and was wondering if it is possible to move just the US Maps folder to the SD card and leave everything else on the internal memory?

If you have a x20 model, yes.

Speed issue with Maps on SD Card????

I know on my Palm when I run things off the card they start slower than when loaded in main storage on the Palm and seem a bit slower in accessing records. I was wondering if those that have 'Moved' their maps to the SD card noticed that issues or if speed was no different.

Two things: 1) That's why it's always suggested that the sd card be capable of fast read/writes and 2) the cpu processing speed of the 720 & 920 is faster than of earlier models so data retrieval from a card doesn't appear to be that much of an issue .... that's my understanding, anway.

memory card

Hi, do you or anyone else know how to use a memory card for a tomtom xls? Someone told me that I have to copy all that is on the internal memory onto the card, but I have no idea how to do it.
Thanks!

Connect your unit to the computer with the sd card installed. Make sure the unit is on. Don't bother running TomTom home. Using Windows Explorer, goto the external drive that shows TomTom (it may be D: or E: or something else on your computer) Highlight everything and copy ALL the contents to the sd card which Explorer will show with another drive letter. Then delete everything from the TomTom unit using Explorer.

Finally, disconnect the unit from the computer SAFELY by double clicking on the USB connector symbol in your computer's notification area (the area on the right hand bottom of your computer). When the unit is disconnected, turn it off and on again. It should recognize all the files are on the sd card and get its info from there. If not, try a reset with a paperclip in the bottom of your unit. Make sure you are pressing the paperclip in the proper hole in the unit. It will be marked.

WARNINGS: 1) Make sure you have a backup of your unit's contents BEFORE doing any of the above and 2) make sure the sd card is formatted as fat 32.
