Maps and route.tomtom.com

I live in an area where the main route into my community is pretty much the only route that gets me to and from anywhere. It recently was re-routed by new construction and obviously, it's not on the current map.This means anytime I use my TT to travel anywhere, it indicates I'm not on any road while I'm on the 11 mile stretch of new road. It makes using route planning sort of useless, although once I reach the intersection to the old road, it becomes accurate again.

My question is mostly about the site routes.tomtom.com. There is no reason to upgrade my map until this new road is updated on the maps. Can anyone advise me of their past experiences when it comes to using routes.tomtom.com. Should I assume that once the new road is being displayed in routes.tomtom.com that the road will more than likely be in the next new map release?

Also, you can check Google maps for the same area. If the new road is there, it may appear in the next map release for the unit.

One other thing to do is to wait till there is a new map release, and list the specific location in a post here, asking for someone with the new map (and your model) if that road is included.

In the May (830) map release, routes.tomtom.com updated itself about a week after the Tomtom map was released to devices. So they're pretty closely tied.

But beware, the shortest time I've seen Tomtom take to add new road was 16 months.

I'm keeping an eye on a major new ramp/highway in downtown providence, ri. It opened in December 2008, but it's still not updated on Tomtom (nor on Navteq) maps yet.
