Hi,

I'd like to create an itinerary with, say, Google Maps, and then upload it to the TomTom. That way I'll have a better control on the initial route.

A software called Tyre seems to do that, except it only runs on Windows. Does anyone know about a software for Mac Os X?

Thanks,

You can do this (sort of) with google maps. If you enter in a business search you will have a link to send to your GPS.

again this only works with business addresses.

I am interested in the same thing. I have tried using google map sending over a POI, but when I do it, TT brings me into the control your tomtom mode, I get the prompt to choose a language, but cannot figure out how to get the favorite onto my TT. Anyone figure this out on a Mac?

In order to get the information from Google maps to your tomtom, you need to use a browser other than Safari. I had the same problem until I used Firefox. When you hit send, it will open up TomTom Home or a page in the background that you can launch home from. I haven't figured out how to set it as a favorite. When TomTom home opens, you should choose show on map, you can then add it as a POI. All the information should be attached when you set it up.

Hope that helps. If you know how to add it as a favorite I'll like to know how as well.

Ok. I feel dumb. You can use the same method as adding it as a POI but just choose add as favorite. Guess I should have played with it more.

1. Send your Location to Gps in Google maps
2. Launch TomTom Home 2.0+. (it should say "Open Address")
3. Click Show on Map.
4. Click the "icon" button.
5. save as either a POI or a Favorite.

That should work. I haven't tried any other browsers other than Firefox

I am using Firefox, but on the mac, I wonder if the app does not work cleanly on the mac. I have not used Safdari in years. Firefox for me on work and home.

Why is send to GPS is not alway's availlable in google map?

http://houghi.org/tomtom/ - convert your google map itinerary to tomtom itinerary

go to

http://houghi.org/tomtom/

There is a web-based script that will convert your google map itinerary to a tomtom itinerary.

Basically, you set up your addresses in google maps, move the start and end locations slightly (to record the map coordinates) and then use "link to this page" in google maps to paste into the script on http://houghi.org/tomtom/. It will ask where you want to save your .itn.

Save it, copy your .itn to your tomtom/itn folder and you're good to go!

Your itinerary will only show coordinates and name though; it loses the address.

You can use google maps to create your itineray and do as it states on the Houghi site
( Below ) and if you have Tyre on your computer it will make your saved file a Trye

I just created a folder on my sd card and called it ITN and have created several inineray files and saved it to my new folder then all I need to do is upload to my TT when and as I need them.
This is the site that explaine how to do this with Google Maps. Google maps are great as you can click and drag your route as you would like it.
Good luck Happy motoring!!
