Map upgrade for Refurb

I recently purchased a ONE XL & now I am being required to purchase an upgrade to the maps which are 6 quarters old. When you add the 2 $ amounts together it would have been better to purchase a new one & got the 1 year warranty & new maps Is there any way I can upgrade this unit without purchasing a new map?

Technically, TomTom no longer offers free upgrade maps using the Latest Map Guarantee for refurb units.

That being said, there are people who have called TomTom, gotten lucky with the customer support person, whio has added the latest map to the user's account.
