GO 920T
My map ver. on my 920T is 710.xxx. In tthome if i use latest map guarantee it comes up and shows the europe 715.xxx ver. and tells me to go and get it. However if i go to add maps it shows that the map for the us and canada ver. 715.xxx as being available for sale. Why can't i get this for free and if i download the europe update will this mean that i won't be able to download any other updated maps? Also whin i go to the tt site and click on the map section it says that the site is being updated. It has been this way for three days now. I have had my tt920t for about 21 days now and my map guarantee runs out in 9 days. I hate to think that i will have to pay for the updated map when i should be getting it for free. Can anyone tell me what the cost will be in us dollars? Also can i download these maps to my computer and then make room for them on my tt or do i have to make room for them first. I don't think there is enough room for both the us and europe maps on the internal memory. Can they be loaded on a sd card and run from there? All though i am not going to europe in the near future it would be nice to get what i paid the top dollar for.

Make backup copies of your old maps first and then erase them (actually, Europe first) from the device. Then DL the Euro map for free within the 30 day grace period. Afterwards, try to get the new North American map thru the latest Map Guar. screen. If that does not work, call cust. service and tell them that you want to excercise your 1 year coupon map guarantee and that HOME is not allowing it. They can then put it on your account for free downloading using the Update my Go button.

Thanks I'll do that. Do you think that I'll need the europe map if i am not goint there in the near future. Should i just delete the europe map and not worry about having it on my tt to add more space to my tt? Can i download the europe map to my computer and install it later?

Before TomTom will honor the one-year map guarantee, they will require that you fax them a copy of your sales receipt, as well as the map upgrade coupon code that came with a certain slect group of TomTom 920's. I do not believe the 920T came with the one-year guarantee.

I just got done with this process. I have the tt920 with 1 year maps guarantee purchased from Costco. I purchased it on 11/26/07

1. I tried latest map guarantee- said It was available, but, the 30 day guarantee is past due or did not come with guarantee, but I could purchase it.

2. I tried "update my device"- it said available but could not download.

3. I Called Tomtom support. They ask for the 1 year map guarantee code- I gave them that, they gave me a reference number.

4. They asked for me to fax them the receipt from the purchase. I had it still in my e-mail reply from the Costco order. I attached it to the e-mail from within tomtom home support.

5. They asked me to call them after I sent them the e-mail.

6. I called them back and gave them the reference number. After about 15 minutes they said that the NA 715 map is now available for download to my tt920.

7. Went to TT home and went to "update my device". I went to download the 715 map- In red letters, it said, "map will not install on my device"

8. I called Tomtom support back. Gave reference #. After about 15 more minutes customer support said wrong map was issued on my TT home.

9. Went to update my device- map is now available- downloaded map.

10. I now have map 715.1712 on my tt920.

11. Don't give up. Keep your receipt and keep your 1 year map guarantee code for next time there is an update.

It took me about 45 minutes to download it. The only problem I had was that my "favorites" got deleted. There is probably something I could have done to prevent this, but I am still very new at it.

In the future, you can copy over (from a backup) the file 'mapsettings.cfg' to a new map. It is that file that contains stuff like your favourites.

Map Guarantee Question

I am trying to clarify the 30 day map guarantee and the 1 year map guarantee that I am reading about on this forum. Did some units come with a 1 year guarantee and some with the 30 day guarantee? I purchased a 920 from Costco on Feb 10th and in the box received a 30 day Latest Map Guarantee that includes 1 year Map Share access for the 720, not the 920 that I actually bought and received.

I am concerned that since my unit is a 920 and the code is for a 720 I might have a problem when I try to get the free maps. Also wondering if I should have received a 1 year latest map guarantee.

Cannot answer your question, but I did buy a 920T from Best Buy and recieved a 1 year guarantee with mine. It was purchased in December.
