Map Updates

I just purchased my 2nd TomTom, 1st one was 3 years old. The maps that came with it are not the lastest maps. Is there a list of the past map updates so that i can determine how old the maps that came with it are.
835.2423 are the installed maps......840.2570 are the latest maps.

Map 835 was released in August 2009. Map 840 was released a few days ago (November 2009).

Map updates are released every 3 months, so you have the second-newest map.

You should be able to use Latest Map Guarantee to get map 840. If it doesn't give you map 840, call up phone support and they'll manually activate map 840.
 
Thanks for the reply. How do I use the "Latest Map Guarantee"? I saw it on the box, but I can't figure out how to implement it.
 
you have to install tomtom home from the tomtom website and choose latest map guarantee from the menu. again if it doernt give you map 840 then calk up tomtom
 
Thanks mvl. Waiting on my new TomTom and was wondering the same.

Questions: do you have to install HOME from the website (as you say) and not the CD to be eligible for a new map? Also do you need an activation code, and if so, where do you get it?

Ok. But if i not living in the USA, not in UK so i can't call to tomtom.

I have send a message to them:

"Hi. I have bought tomtom 2 weeks ago and didn't used "latest map guarantee" to update my map. Now the version of 840.2562 its out and i still getting 835.2419 old map in "map guarantee" section of tomtom home. How i can get the last one version of the map?"

And got the answer:

"The 8.40 map was only released yesterday, so it may be that when you tried, the map guarantee had still not been updated to the latest version. Do you get the new version listed now?

Send again:

"No. It's not. Still 835.2419"

it was on Wednesday 25.11.09

And still not any answer from there. Where is the 10 minuttes?

Tesla, you'll need to call and fax a proof of purchase to Tomtom if the HOME-based Latest Map Guarantee doesn't work. See the dropdown box on this page for a list of country-specific phone numbers. Email may work, but it's a lot less efficient.

We're all Tomtom customers here, so there's nothing we can do to facilitate the process.

Also, I removed your email since this is a public forum, and it'll probably invite ton's of spam from webcrawlers if it's published in the open.
