Map updates

Hi

Just joined your fold here and seeking some info on the recent map updates for the Tom Tom rider V2...trouble is I am in the UK so my mapping is Western Europe. I am looking for the release date and version numbers from September 07 to current version

The reason I ask is I am in dispute with Tom Tom tech support (UK) over mapping updates. I have had my unit for 8 months but never actually used or plugged it into Tom Tom Home until last week, this was due to an injury that prevented me from riding. Tom Tom home said I had map updates available for a further cost in excess of ?200. My current map version is Western Europe V 6.75 and the new version is 7.20. This seems like a huge jump in version numbers over 8 months and suspect my unit was sold with out of date mapping on it. TomToms new new 30 day offer of map upgrades is not applicable to me and IMHO worthless anyway. Tom Tom assure me the units mapping was in date at the time of purchase and have no claim...basically just buy the new maps and get lost.

I would just like to get the release dates and versions to check as TomTom feel it unnecessary to provide these details I asked for. If Tom Tom are right then fair play I will then make the decision if I want to spend the money or not on a map update or for a little more buy a whole new unit with current mapping and eBay the other etc. Of course my other option is migrate to the dark side of Garmin who really seem to have there mapping update system sorted along with other benefits like actual custom routing. My 1st generation Tom Tom 1 I use in me car has never got me lost and for point to point navigation I think the Tom Tom is excellent, for touring and wanting to custom pick your route tom tom is sadly lacking though.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Adie
