Map Update

I have a tom tom one new edition, I connected to home and update the firmware. My mapshare and several help me function's do not work (map is to old). I called tech support and was advised i had to spend $49.99 for an updated us and Canada map...My app is 7.162, my map is north America v665.1293, serial number begins with an E, any advice on what to do my tom tom is only 1 year old is it worth spending $50.00 for an update or $212.00 for a new tom tom one xl with the new maps, was i given the wrong info and the new maps are free...any help would be great.........

it depends on your area. If you feel your maps need to be updated and do not want to risk if the new maps are an improvement in your area, then I suggest to go to a retail store and check out the maps with the display model.

but upgrading his maps will enable Mapshare to work on his unit since its 6.75+ to use mapshare and he got 6.65

i will not get the XL cause it come with 6.75 only and its not eligible for latest map guaranteed

the XL-S come with 7.10 preloaded and cost juste a little bit more thant the XL and have the TTS in adition

Thanks for all the great info, I decided to purchase the tom tom 720 from QVC they are selling it for $349.00 with 5 payments option, I could not resit. I played around with the one 720 at circuit city and was impressed, If I am correct the 720 comes with all the new maps and updates with the map guarantte..If I am wrong please advise. It seems all the comments on 720 forum are positive.
