Hi All,

New 920 owner here...

If you make a map correction on the 920, will that change take effect immediately on the 920.

I have set a street as "Does not exist", but the 920 still wants to use it.

Thanks

Seems to work for me but I'm not sure what "does not exist" means. In browse mode touch a street and choose correct map > block road from the cursor menu. You can then block access from either end of the selected road segment. I think that's what you need to do if you want the road to be avoided. After you do this the road is displayed with a dotted line on it.

Thanks Boyd,

My brain only saw UNblock, now I realize, (un) or block.

I am from central Jersey, does your unit refer to bridges as "branch". I guess it reads the br as branch instead of bridge. If you ever need to go over the Goethals it pronounces as "hubbels Branch".

I was in the jersey area and heard that for the "verazano branch"....

There is a street near my home, called "E Avenue S" which TomTom reads as "East Ave South"

LOL - I went up to the NYC area for Thanksgiving and the TomTom said "Gertels Branch" for "Goethals Bridge" which made me laugh. I understand "Gertels" since that's German (as in "Goethe"), but you'd think it would know the abbreviation for Bridge. :)

I figured out why it does that.
"Bridge" is abbreviated as "Brg" within the TeleAtlas maps. When you approach a bridge, the unit reads the sign post where it's marked as "Xxx Br". That's short for "Branch." Even though the map clearly indicates "Xxx Brg," it still pronounces it as Branch (Br). I think if you disable "Read sign posts," it'll stop reading the signs and pronouncing "Xxx Br" and revert to the map pronunciation "Xxx Brg."
