Map Exasperation

Hi,

I've bought a North America map, which I have installed on an SD card, and it works fine. But there are (or appear to be) free updates for it, but they only appear if I try to update the main Tom Tom device. But of course there is not enough space on there to fit the map. If I go to the SD card, it initially doesn't mention the map. If I then go to update maps, it then I says I have the map, but now they want to charge me for it.

How can I fix this? I have tried simply copying the contents of the Internal Tom Tom disk to the SD card, and that does not help (NB, I do have a backup of the SD card contents before doing this).

What do you mean by free updates? Are you talking mapshare, Latest Map Guarantee, or newer maps from a subscription?

How much space are you short in the internal? Maybe remove some computer voices, they can be about 50mb each.
