I was working today and was in a subdivision where TT showed all the streets but most of them were un-named. I took the time to do the corrections and name all of them, which worked well and all the names showed up on the map but, when I tried to navigate to any of the corrected names, TT did not find them. Is this something that will be fixed when they come back to via map share, or am I just wasting my time?

Ok, it seems that I have to answer my own question. I just connected to Home and received Map Share downloads. Now I can navigate to the streets that I named/renamed. So, it does work, wheee!

I have never had to rename streets, so thank you for reporting back that you had a successful MapShare experience with Street renaming.

It took a bit of playing around with MapShare for me to learn this, but I have learned that yes, it is worthwhile to submit map corrections.

-You mark the map corrections on your TT device.

-later on, back at your house, connect to TomTom Home. This updates your device, and it also submits your data to Tele Atlas, TomTom's map provider.

-This way, when Tele Atlas goes to make the next version of maps for your GPS, they can use your map corrections data to decide what areas to target for map updating.

When you "mark an area", what information do you report with that?

The "mark an area" option lets you "flag" a general area so that you can review it later.

ex: You are at a stoplight and see that your favorite restaurant has changed (oh my!). Since it's not a great idea to be fiddling around with submitting an entire new map correction, "mark the area" and you can go back to make the full correction later - when you are parked. Then the data goes off to Tele Atlas correctly!

To make it easy on you, add the quick report button to be viewable at all times:
