Map Correction Problem

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I have a TomTom One 125 that I got for Christmas and I have tried to work with the map corrections. I found a road that I pass by on the way to work that I have tried to correct. When I drive by the road it does not show up on the unit. However, when I try to name the road, they are already on there. I even try to navigate to the road and the name doesn't come up. What I am doing wrong?

I too would like help with this. My road was originally built in 2 parts, and they've now connected the 2 parts in the middle. How do I make a correction to add the new part of the road? I would've thought it'd be there by now... the road construction was completed like 2 - 3 years ago...

Thanks all! :)

You can report a physical change to TomTom via mapshare; you just can't make a physical change yourself.

Can you please post here the city and the address, or the street intersection you are having problems with?

IMHO, the best way to report that is:
Map corrections
Correct a map error
Report other error

That will give you a free-form text box (on the TomTom unit itself) where you can type in what the problem is.

Also, please note that you cannot do live additions of streets in mapshare. When you do an addition, it is reported to tomtom for them to add in a future map.

You can only change (eg: fix 1-ways, turn restrictions, and speed limits), and delete roads in real time.

Does this mean I can't change the name of the road if it is incorrect? I thought we were able to make corrections ourself.

It is in Wauchula, FL. The road name is Parnell Road

Wow... I've looked on Google Maps and Yahoo Maps and can't find this street either. They do indicate that there's a Parnell Rd in nearby Zolfo Springs. Maybe that has something to do with it?

What is Parnell Road parallel to (and what is the cross street at Parnell Road).

No, no......

A name correction is not a physical change. Trying to add a road or move a road is a physical change.

You can make a name change to an existing street, but you can't physically make a road appear on your map. Only the people who make the electronic maps can add a street that doesn't show up.

My mapshare issue

My issue is that the way that my TomTom One tells me to go to my inlaws house. They live in Broadview Hts., OH. The Tomtom One tells me to take the Ohio Turnpike to Great Lakes Dr. The problem is that there is a Turnpike Service Plaza at this exit, so it is not a real exit. You can get off the Ohio Turnpike to the service plaza and you can also get from the service plaza to my inlaws house, but you can't get from the turnpike to my inlaws house by getting off at the service plaza because there is a barrier in the way. The rd. from the service plaza to to the non-toll roads is for workers at the service plaza and local residents who want to use the service plaza and eat at the Panera Bread or Duncan Donuts. I have tried several times to correct this through Mapshare with no sucess.

In mapshare, you should be able to block the connection between Great Lakes Dr and the service plaza using the "(un)block street" function of mapshare. Or you use the same function to block the entrance to the service plaza and force tomtom to take a normal exit.

Alternatively, you can get a new map. In map 815 the service plaza and Great Lakes Drive are physically disconnected.
