What is the difference between the share map and the map you have free for 30 day's. Should it not be the same?

Mapshare should be available for 1 year. It is data that is not directly included in your map, but are extra files that work in conjunction with the map you have on your TomTom. These will not overwrite your current map install.

For example, mapshare files will look similar to:
CA9927.ov2
PA7315.ov2


The whole idea behind 'Use Latest Map Guarantee' is that when TomTom packages up your TomTom and ships it to retailers, they could sit on the shelf for years. Thus, when you actually buy it, the map on the TomTom could be 2 years out of date. TomTom wanted to make sure that you had a map that was the latest and greatest at the time of purchase, so they allow you 30 days to update your map. These updates will totally overwrite the existing maps (and map settings) you have on your TomTom when you exercise the latest map guarantee.

In reality, they should only allow you to do this one time, but they give you 30 days to insure you are able to get a clean install.

The Mapshare is for changes for the map you have installed. The 30 guarantee is for the user to be able to upgrade to a newer map. If a user does so, then the mapshares he will be getting will be for THAT map only.

In summary...mapshares involve CHANGES to a map.

What do you do after 1 year, when Home expire?

Home doesn't expire. After one year, you will no longer recieve Map share updates to your map. You can continue to use the map that you have, you just will not get updates that other users have submitted.
