I have an apple macbook that I am using with my go 510. I just got it to work with the activation code-i had to go use the windows based desktop and it finally worked. anyways now when i plug the usb cable into any computer, windows or mac, it comes up with the do you want to connect to computer touch screen, i click yes, and it reboots in a continuous loop never actually connecting to the computer. Does anyone else have this problem? I have the software installed on the macbook. its tiger 10.4
Can anyone help? I tried calling the number but it's after business hours now:confused:

Have you reset the 510? Restarted the Mac? In the Apple menu-->About this Mac-->More Info-->USB, does it identify the 510? Does the 510's SD card show up as a drive on the Mac desktop?

I'm no expert and I use a 910 and a Pismo G3 Powerbook running OS10.4.9, but I'd start with finding a paperclip and resetting the 510.

It sounds like you may be having a known problem with the Mac OS 10.4.9 (more info in this thread).

Basically, when Apple updated to 10.4.9 recently, it became incompatible with TomTom HOME and several other peripheral devices. I called TomTom Tech Support and they said engineers are working on a patch but they don't know when it will come.

In the meantime, there is a workaround. If you plug your TomTom into an older USB port (such as the low-powered one on an older Mac keyboard), it will work. Apparently this is because the OS X 10.4.9 element that is causing the incompatibility was some change to the USB software.

So if I put the software on my dell desktop that is running windows, I shouldn't have this problem? Can you tell me where the reset button is?

I suggest just copy/paste.
Home will give you fits for any reason (power lost, lost internet connection, turn off power without disconnecting the device first ...), avoid it at all cost or learn to master the paper clip. There is even a thread devoted to the 'Paper clip club'.

I had the same problem -- two words Boot Camp -- in you are on a intel mac down load Boot Camp from Apple (free) -- you will need an operating system --see a friend or go to NewEgg were I got XP for less then $100 -- FYI -- Itried Parrells first no joy -- hope this helps

In addition to the fact that the TomTom tech team is working on a fix, the tech support person I spoke to said that when the Leopard version of the Mac OS comes out (shortly), it might just eliminate the problem... they're not sure.

This is only true on Intel Macs.

Intel Mac fix

OS X 10.4.10
Apple specifically mentions TomTom connect issue fix.

Worked for me, although, other than software upgrades, TomTom Home is fairly useless.

As much as I like my 510 (a lot), I thought that the Garmin Mapsource was a far superior mapping/routing solution.
