Lost satellites

Hi,

I just got the TomTom One and it worked fine out of the box. I noticed some streets had been permanently blocked off due to a Highway widening and logged on to see if I could correct the map. Something went haywire during my TomTom Install and a message came up: "Fatal Error." When I logged off, I relaized I had no longer any sat. connection, by my ONE did say "lost Satellite connection 35 seconds ago."

How do I get my connection back?

Thanks very much.

usually whenever i turn mine on it says i've lost sat connection __ seconds ago. it just takes like a minute for it to sync up, or usually if i go near a window it can find them faster.

one thing i've read about on here is the gpsquickfix. you connect your gps about once a week to your computer, it gets the new sat paths and then it knows where they will be for the next week. so it can find them faster. instead of randomly looking, it knows generally where to look. can someone confirm that's what this does?

so hopefully the answer to your question would be it just needs to find them again. should happen anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. did it ever find them again or is it still counting up how long it's been?

Mine did the same thing today when I received it, I did a reset and it still wouldn't get signal. Then I loaded ToTom Home and ran the updates and it loaded 2 updates and one was the siganl quick fix. After installing then powered off and back on and it got signal right away. Now I'm trying to get the new 7.10 map but it goes all the way then says internal server error even after 3 attempts:confused:

Yes, the 'GPSquickfix' weekly update is pretty important. I just got home from a week-long visit to NY (flew so didn't take my TT). This morning when I turned my TT on, it took a little over a minute to find ANY satellites... and it only fond 3 satellites. Then I checked for any updates and downloaded / installed the GPSquickfix. Next time I turned it on, it found 5 satellites in less than 15 secs.
