Lost my TT720 car charger, want to use a cellphone car charger

I lost my TT720 car charger and I'm planning to use a Nokia 252/6110 car charger by removing the jack connector and place a mini usb connector instead.
It's a charger very similar to this one:

Input: DC12-24V.Output:5.00-6.00V/600MA

Can I damage my TT if I do this?

My motorola car charger (for the razr v3) worked fine charging the tomtom.

In my experience almost any usb charger that fits the plug sucessfully and safely charged any usb device I've tried (included tomtoms, nokias, and cameras). The only exception was the HTC cellphone chargers which only worked with the HTC phones.

I am not familiar with your specific TT but be careful to say the least. A lot of people fried the 910s by using 12v power direct which was actually stepped down to less than half that. I am sure someone with more experience will add some insight.
