Lost map

Hi,
I have a XL2 IQ ROUTES EDITION ? EUROPE 42

Before using it the first time I tried to do an upgrade via HOME, which failed (bad xml-file structure).
After that my Europe map was lost.

I tried
- hardware reset (no result)
- rename the HOME directory and retry the upgrade (no free upgrade any more)

During the upgrade attempt HOME did copy some files on my computer, apparently in a FromDevice folder that contains a map and a lot of other files.
HOME does see a map on my computer, but refuses to copy it to my device.

Can I simply copy these files back to my TT? Which files? In which folder(s)?

Thank you in advance for your help

If the map has been successfully copied to the PC, it should have everything in a single folder called something like "Western and Central Europe" or "Europe"

If it's there, you should find it on your PC at
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\FromDevice
but check all the folders around there.

The entire folder should go back onto the 'root' of the TomTom storage (i.e.not inside any other folder) and you should be able to copy it back there using normal Windows Explorer copy and paste techniques.

If it's not to be found, and the device is brand new, you should just take it straight back to the shop and get it replaced. (Some shops insist on a 'returns authorisation' from TomTom customer services first)

Thanks a lot Andy, it worked!
I have some other stuff in the FromDevice folder, like several data0x.zip files containing chk and vif files.
Shall I also restore these folders?

Excellent news...

The dataxx files are your voices.....

If you need to put them back, the individual files (not the zips) should go in the "voices" folder on the TomTom.

for instance my voices folder has 4 voices in it, and the files are:

data04.chk
data04.tlv
data04.vif
data05.chk
data05.tlv
data05.vif
data161.chk
data161.vif
data162.chk
data162.vif

(the extra .tlv files are ones that Home creates if you download a voice from there. They aren't that important).

thanks

Good!
Actually I have all voices installed now, so I probably don't need to reinstall them.
Curious, it seems that FromDevice only contains the four voices that I had chosen when I upgraded.

Thanks a lot Andy!
