Just curious,

Does TomTom support ask for serial number, when you call them for LMG? I got the maps, but they asked me to provide the receipt and when I called then after sending then receipt; rep asked the serial number before giving me latest map.

Well, I guess you got your answer, then. The serial number may be an indicator of whether the unit is a new unit or a refurb.

Some say a reburb in NA is NOT eligible for a lmg and only gets a 6-mo. warranty.

A refurbished unit does get LMG (I recently purchased a refurbished 920 and was able to get LMG for both NA and WE, and the warranty is 6 months. I suspect LMG works only if you purchased from an authorised dealer, in my case Amazon.
