TomTom Go 740
Im running a TT Go 740 and late yesterday (Saturday Sept 6th) and then all day today my live services wont connect to the server. I checked to see if I was connected to the cell system and its showing that Im connected but I cannot connect to any of the live services. Also another thing that I have noticed is that since the upgrade in maps and firmware my TT is taking forever to aquire a GPS signal. It sure does seem to me that a company that is as big and has the popularity as TomTom would have all these so called little problems worked out before putting everything in the hands of the consumer. When I try to use any of the plus services all I get is a big red screen with "cannot connect to the server" error....but yet if you check the connection status its showing me as connected......anyone else having a simular problem like this?????

It was a little slow connecting, Took about 4 minutes or so, but live is working for me.

Thanks for the reply gator......this thing is really acting crazy.....has been doing real good and then it started this. Guess Ill have to get on the phone and hit on TomTom again and see what kind of excuses they have this time.....:) I really do like the TomTom 740 but if Im going to keep having these problems just might have to go back to the ol Garmin, which I really hate to do but at least it gets a GPS signal when you turn it on.

If your live services are dead you're probably not getting auto-quickgpsfix. It's absence is probably causing your slow signal lock.

Until tt support fixes your problem, you can download quickgpsfix from HOME every 2-3 days. At least the signal lock will work.

It's not all that unusual for live services to be out or unavailable (unable to connect to server) even tho your 740 indicates it's connected to the cell network. Happens to me a few times a month, but usually for very short periods of time. I haven't seen any outages lasting more than an hour in the past few weeks.Keep in mind that Live has a lot of dead areas where you won't get a cell connection and thus no live services, especially in some of the more rural areas. I also haven't seen any indication that live connection failures are related to gps sat lock.
