Hello all;

It's that time for a new GPS. I am on my 6th Garmin but I think it's time to change.

I cannot believe with all the GPS out on the market place there is not one unit that does everything. Hence the need for these support forums :)

What I really want is a GPS for the motorcycle but TT has stopped making the rider series and the garmin unit is to expensive compared to the automotive versions.

I am looking at the TT GO 2535-M
It comes with lifetime maps but not lifetime traffic.

How are the maps transferred? Is it by computer?

Also how much does the live services cost after the one year?

The one thing I really like with the Garmin is their Mapsource software which allows me to map my own routes and then load the route to the GPS. Additionally on the GPS unit itself you could tell it what areas to avoid ie NYC, or other major cities. Does the TT have these attributes?

I appreciate any feed back you can provide

Wecom to TTF!

Yes the maps are downloaded to the computer then transferred to the device.

The Live services are $60/yr after the first year.

You can avoid part of a route on that model or travel via ....

Thanks for the quick answer dhh!

Never having owned a TT, and it looks like you have. Would you think it probable that TT would make available live weather maps for this 2535 in the future, or would they make you buy a different model.

I understand you would not have any possible insider information, just trying to get your sense on if they would.

As stated b4, I really want this for my motorcycle. I make several 1k mile trips a year and have been caught in several torrential down pours. I want to avoid them as much as possible and for now I only see the garmin 1695 Nulink! as having that feature.

and thanks for the Welcome!

Live services can provide weather for your current location or for a destination, yes.

LIVE services on a Tomtom are generally inferior to a LIVE Garmin, with the exception of traffic where Tomtom is much much better.

Tomtom weather is text only, not maps like Garmin, so they're not as useful when planning motorcycle routes.

And the 2535m live has no buddies feature, nor does it have multi-waypoint itineraries.

For recreational motorcycle use a true bike unit is much better.
