TomTom Model(s)
GO 910
Hi,

I have just bought a second TTGO 910 which with a new battery and map update is nearly working as well as my other TTGO 910 which I have had from new and also had the battery replaced as it was not charging up, but I guess you cannot expect it to keep going on that score, and having had over 5 years out of the original then I cannot complain! :thumb:

My niggling little 'problem' is that when I turn off one of them I get a Green Screen with a picture of a TT being placed into a briefcase with a smaller picture in the bottom R/H corner of a Thief with a bag of swag over his shoulder that has an 'X' over the top of the picture.

On the second unit even though I have 'Passwords' to activate both of them, I don't get the Green Screen when powering down, but I still get the Log In Screen when powering up.

Can anyone tell me how to 'activate/select' this feature that is of course if it is still available?

Thanks

What you are seeing, I think, is a warning screen not to leave the device in the car. It's there, somewhere........ Safety Settings, maybe. Check 'Warn Not to leave in vehicle'.

Something like that.

This should be easy....

It would be even easier if I could remember EXACTLY how it worked on a Go910, but it's a while ago and TomTom changed the way it was done at some point.

The full story...

The Startup screen is always an image file called "splash.bmp" (or "splashw.bmp" for the widescreen models)

But to get a shut-down screen they did it in two ways

Most models have an option to "Warn not to leave the device in the car" in which case they show an image called "antitheft.bmp" (or "antitheftw.bmp")
Originally, if you wanted a different shut-down screen, you had to replace that antitheft image with one of your own (and switch on the option in the menus).

Eventually, they added a normal shut-down screen, using a file called "suspend.bmp" (or "suspendw.bmp" for widescreen) which gets used if you DON'T switch on the anti-theft message in the menu.
But I'm not sure if that ever got implemented on the Go 910

--------------

So, if it's not as simple as turning on the antitheft warning in the menu (like dhn so succinctly suggested), then all you need to do is look for the file you want on the "good" 910 and copy it to the other one, and THEN switch it on. It will probably be called antitheft.bmp

But if you want, you can have ANY picture you like.....

Thanks Gents!

You were in effect both correct as the "Warn not to leave the device in the car' in Safety Features was checked but the Picture 'antitheft.bmp' was not there, so it was copied from the complete unit and pasted across to the other unit if that makes sense.

Interestingly while the 'Photos' folder holds the picture for the Startup Screen the 'antitheft.bmp' is in the root directory, possibly to stop it being deleted if you don't want to keep any of the startup pictures that are already in the unit.

Now back to 'Exact Twins' which if one fails and we are on a long trip into the wilds of some country I can switch over and off we go until we get back home.

Thanks again for your help and assistance it was appreciated. :thumb::thumb:
