I got my tomtom from Sharper image, still sealed in the protective film... I got to get the latest map from TThome and the only option I get is to download a map of Guam. Guam!?!? Why the hell would I need that map? The device came with Guam and NA 2g (7.05). I deleted Guam when I first opened it because... i mean cmon... its Guam... Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong here?

Call Support: 1 866 486 6866 (available 8:30AM to 7:00PM EST Mon - Fri and 9:00AM to 5:00PM EST Saturdays)

They may require you to scan your receipt.
Then they will upload the new map into your HOME account.

The automated latest map does not seem to be working very well right now. My parents also had to call support because Guam was the only map that showed for the guarantee. Support had them scan and email in the receipt and they got the new map. One possible thing, the update to the new map would not work (even though it successfully downloaded it) until I had them remove the existing map first before they tried to update to the new one. If you do try that, make sure you backup the TomTom first (always a good idea before any update)

You can try making a backup of your NA map and then delete/remove from your GPS. Turn off the GPS and shut down TThome. Reconnect turn on and click yes to use computer. When TTHome opens it should give you the option to load the new map. Be prepared for a couple of hours download time unless you have a very fast connection.

well thanks again for your help... I guess the 43 minute cust serv. phone call was worth the 100 dollar map!

For future reference, you can use the "Ask a Question" feature on the TomTom customer support site and avoid the long telephone wait time. You ask your question and you'll get a response back within 24-48 hours. If you're not in a hurry, this beats waiting on the phone.

here's what u need to do....

I also purchased a tomtom 720 from sharper image but the promo code didn't work for the latest map guarantee. All I had to do was call tomtom (18664866866) & explain the situation. They gave me a ticket/ref number to upload a copy of my reciept. After that, I was able to download ver.715 map.
