I am a new tomtom owner and am interrsted in information about what languages can be used. I live in a (generally) English-speaking country, but many people here do not have sufficient English to get all the info. coming out of a tomtom.
Are there language updates etc available or are we stuck with English in English-speaking counties, German in German-speaking etc.
Any help much appreciated

Welcome to TTF.

when you start up your unit for the first time, the initial question you have to answer is what language of instruction do you want to use. There are a variety to choose from.

When you download voices using Home (recorded and computer--if your model handles them), the 'default' ones offered relate to the language setting of the unit (I think ) but you can still get voices in other languages by selected the 'all' filter.

So, bottom line: A German speaking individual in Oz can have German instructions and voices on his/her unit for aussie maps while an English speaking person's same model has English.

Many thanks for your help.
I noticed that a few languages were offered in the set up -all European.
But suppose I bought my TomTom in Australia but mainly spoke Chinese or Thai. Is there any way I can get an upgrade or memory card that can give me the Australian map instructions in those languages?
Maybe this is just not possible but I thought it would be useful for many people.

You'd have to check with Aussue customer support. I don't know.
