start 25
When entering letters/numbers with keypad ,numerous letters/ figures from around the original letter/number are entered and I spend a lot of time deleting and trying to enter the correct letters/numbers again and again. This seems to happen when my start 25 is cold. Can anyone give advise please?

Try sliding the sharp edge of a business card completely around the screen under the bezel to dislodge any 'gunge' that may have lodged there.

It doesn't sound like he's getting phantom presses, dhn .. more that the screen calibration is a bit wonky when cold.

@gareth ...
Is there any consistency to the direction that the wrong key is in when this happens? Do they tend to pop up either above or below all the time, or left or right? If, for example, the key that is selected is always up and to the right a bit (as just one possible example), then it would clearly be a problem of the screen calibration being a bit whacked. Or is the selected key in a more random pattern around the 'correct' one?

Problem is, there hasn't been a model made for quite a long while that has any provision for adding an offset file to correct the calibration. Your Start 25 is what we call a "Nav3" device, one generation past the point where this can be corrected.

In either case, it's hard to know whether it's the screen itself or the A to D conversion that is failing to consistently report touch position I'd bet on the screen, and they can be purchased separately.

Could be a bit of pain come winter, but keep us posted on your situation. If the pain is sufficient later, we can discuss the new screen.
